Australia in Vietnam Climate and Energy Transition Strategy

Development of an Australia in Vietnam Climate and Energy Transition Strategy: 2024

This project developed an outward-facing 'Australia in Vietnam Climate and Energy Transition Strategy' covering Australian Government engagement and support to Vietnam across climate mitigation, adaptation and climate finance.

Key objectives included helping to define the climate and energy strategy for the Australian government in Australia and supporting the Australian Government’s public diplomacy work in Vietnam by highlighting support for Vietnam’s climate and energy agenda.

The project involved the review of background documents and initial workshops with DFAT's Hanoi Embassy and relevant government departments to define the core elements and parameters of the strategy. The drafting of the strategy included consultation and review with DFAT Canberra and other government agencies such as DCCEEW.

The strategy covered climate finance opportunities such as: I) Deploying high-quality climate finance through various Australian government investment mechanisms and blended finance approach ii) Supporting Vietnam’s domestic/ mandated/ compliance carbon market iii) Boosting B2B and B2G cooperation and commercial opportunities.
