Operationalising the ASEAN Centre for Climate Change (ACCC)

ASEAN Centre for Climate Change (ACCC): 2024 - 2025

Through 2024 and 2025, Adapt40 worked with the ASEAN Secretariat, the Brunei Climate Change Office and the Aus4ASEAN Futures Initiative on a regional project to Operationalise the ASEAN Centre for Climate Change (ACCC).

The purpose of the ACCC is to facilitate regional cooperation and coordination on climate change initiatives among the ten ASEAN Member States and Timor-Leste, providing policy recommendations, facilitating technical support and leadership in the region on aspects of climate change including mitigation, adaptation, technology, finance, GEDSI, Loss and Damage, among others.

Adapt40 led the project and specifically managed a regional Needs Assessment incorporating consultations with the ten ASEAN Member States, International Organisations, existing ASEAN Centres combined with extensive research. The Needs Assessment explored the gaps, opportunities and needs of the region on climate change, including an assessment of existing capacities and expertise of the region, and found key recommendations which would inform the strategy and operational framework of the ACCC.

Working with our partner, Humanitarian and Development Consulting (HDC), we then constructed a Strategic Partnership Framework to guide the ACCC’s future engagements and partnerships, with Stakeholder Engagement Plans and supported the creation of an Operational Framework, led by HDC.
