Climate Change Risk and Vulnerability Assessment for Dartmoor National Park

Dartmoor National Park Authority: 2025-Ongoing

Adapt40 are working with Dartmoor National Park Authority to create a comprehensive Climate Change Risk and Vulnerability Assessment for the Dartmoor National Park (UK). Working with a range of stakeholders, the team are assessing the key hazards, sensitivities, adaptive capacities and exposure of a range of receptor types including:

  • Natural Environment

  • Historic Environment

  • Local Communities

  • Build Environment

  • Forestry

  • Agriculture, Food Production and Land Management

  • National Park Special Qualities and Landscape Character

  • Water, Soils and Resource Protection

  • Recreation and Access

  • Businesses and Operations

Using GIS mapping, the assessment will shed light on the areas of converging risk, complete with a risk matrix for the national park authority and a detailed assessment of risks and vulnerabilities of different receptors. The risk assessment is fully aligned with the IUCN best practices and the UK’s Climate Risk Assessment and National Adaptation Programme.
