Support for Developing Antigua and Barbuda's FRLD BIM Funding Request

Adapt40 is working with the FRLD Focal Point in Antigua and Barbuda to support the country to conceptualise and write their first FRLD Funding Request, to be submitted under the FRLD's inaugural funding window, the Barbados Implementation Modalities.

The FRLD is the newest climate finance mechanism under the UNFCCC and addresses economic and non-economic loss and damage from climate change. As a low-lying archipelago in the Caribbean, Antigua and Barbuda is particularly vulnerable to climate change. This Funding Request provides economic support for vulnerable groups to respond to economic losses, including housing repair for climate-related damages, a mechanism for workers to recover wages lost due to climate events and extremes, and a mechanism to replace work equipment damaged in climate events and extremes. It also establishes a comprehensive climate change focused mental health support programme, to address the extensive non-economic losses like grief and fear that follow afflict populations that are highly exposed and vulnerable.

Adapt40’s work includes developing the funding request concept and integrating stakeholder and government feedback, writing and refining the funding request in accordance with the FRLD’s requirements, and updating the submission following the FRLD’s review and feedback period.
